'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,' Paul Walker And Facebook In Today's Twitter-Wood

Disproportionately large numbers of picture tweets continued to be a Friday trend today, with another on-set shot of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" showing up from Jerry Bruckheimer, Ludacris hanging out with Paul Walker, and Rose McGowan showing up to a USO event with an actor you may recognize from "Sons of Anarchy."
Jon [...]

Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsHarry, Ron and Hermione may find some of those elusive Horcruxes in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," but there is one thing they won't find, no matter how hard they look: a third dimension. And neither will the audience.

Warner Bros. announced today that "Deathly Hallows: Part 1" will not -- repeat, will NOT -- be released in 3-D as originally planned because the conversion to the format would not be completed by the film's November 19 release date.

"Despite everyone's best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality," the studio said in a statement. "We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010 as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate 'Harry Potter' experience."

Producer David Heyman and director David Yates backed the studio's decision. "For 10 years, we have worked alongside Alan Horn and the studio, whose priority has always been to preserve the integrity of Jo Rowling's books as we have adapted them to the screen," Heyman said in a statement. "This decision reflects that commitment."

Added Yates: "This decision, which we completely support, underscores the fact that Warner Bros. has always put quality first." Gotta love the show of unity, but that's to be expected from the people making the movie. The big question is: How will fans react?

We've never been huge supporters of converting movies to 3-D after the fact -- at best it can be unnecessary; at worst it can be "Clash of the Titans" -- but if it had been done properly, we wouldn't have minded some 3-D wizardry for "Deathly Hallows: Part 1." Still, it doesn't affect our enthusiasm for the film at all. We're just as pumped now as we were when we woke up this morning.

Of course, we will be treated to some three-dimensional "Potter" fun beginning July 15, 2011: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" is still on tap for both 2-D and 3-D versions.

Are you bummed... or glad that "Deathly Hallows: Part 1" won't be in 3-D?

'Robot Chicken' Works With 'Family Guy' To Avoid Overlap Of 'Star Wars' Joke

December will be a pretty sweet month for "Star Wars" aficionados, with both "Family Guy" and "Robot Chicken" rolling out third installments of their respective parodies. On the "Family Guy" front, Seth MacFarlane & Co. will be taking on "Return of the Jedi" on December 21, with "Robot Chicken" taking fans to a galaxy far, [...]

Wes Craven, the legendary horror maestro behind the "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Scream" franchises and a bevy of other bone-chilling hits, returns to theaters today with his first writer-director effort in 16 years: the 3-D thriller "My Soul to Take."

So what inspired the filmmaker, who's certainly kept busy in the directing department lately, to sit down and write his first full-length screenplay since 1994's "The New Nightmare"? "I just realized that it had been a while since I'd written anything," he told MTV News recently. "And then, right around the same time, the idea for this movie popped into my head while I was taking a shower."

But that's only half the story. "This is also the most autobiographical of all my films," Craven admitted. We thought this was an interesting thing to say about a movie that tells of the Riverton Ripper, a fabled serial killer with multiple personalities/souls (only one of them a cold-blooded killer partial to gutting people) who returns to murder the seven children born the night he died... so we asked for some clarification.

"My father died when I was four, and the memories I have of him were that I was scared of him," Craven confided. "I think he had a bad temper, and that always kind of haunted me the rest of my life. I was always wondering who my father was. So that kind of mystery of the father by the son, wondering what of the father is in you that might pop up. That's one of the themes of the movie, of course."

Craven's relationship with his father wasn't the only aspect of his childhood that informed the movie, however. "I was raised in the Baptist Church -- you know, you can't got to movies, you can't smoke, you can't drink, you can't dance, all those things. I always felt like really naive and innocent in a way I didn't want to be, especially as I got into junior high and high school... Certainly Max Theirot's character Bug is an innocent at the beginning of the movie, but he's not at the end by any means... It's very much about the fallen angel, in a way, the angel that in order to become a man and know what's really going on has to lose his wings and learn the tough truths about life."

That didn't take long! Good thing they wised and realized having a TV show is more profitable than a fishing boat!

Though the captains went through a bit of a legal battle with the Discovery network, Deadliest Catch stars Sig Hansen and Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand will be back to work on their popular show next week in Alaska. Discovery released a statement in regards to the matter, on behalf of the cast, saying

“We’re happy we worked everything out with Discovery. A deal’s a deal. We’re heading up to Dutch Harbor to start filming the new season of Deadliest Catch and hopefully it will be the best one yet.”

The Hillstrands added in their own statement in regards to their separate Discovery special:

“Everyone worked really hard on putting together Hillstranded and we’re looking forward to wrapping that up. It’s something new that we hope people will enjoy.”

Glad it all could be work out, boys! Thankfully, you didn't rock the boat hard enough that you all ended up with nothing!

Barber's Adagio for Strings and Its Link With Trance Music

The oboe has been around as a significant solo instrument since the Renaissance and so it is not surprising that there is a very substantial repertoire of oboe pieces available. There is a massive repertoire of Baroque solos for the instrument and there has been another burst of activity in the last century or so. In between, during the Classical and early Romantic periods, there were far fewer solo pieces written.

U2 Australian Tour 2010

Barber's Adagio for Strings was voted as the saddest classical piece of all time in 2004. It is a true testament to how powerful and moving music can be, so powerful in fact that over seventy years later modern composers of electronic music and disc jockeys are keeping it alive in the artful music genre of Trance music.

Where to Shop for Portable Minidisc Players

Adagio for Strings was a short piece composed by Samuel Barber in 1936 for his string quartet. The beauty and emotions can be heard as well as felt in this song and, in 2004, was named the saddest classical music ever created. More recently Barber's Adagio for Strings has become popular among many DJs and music producers who have covered and sampled the song and has seen great success over the past decade, particularly within Trance music.
